need answer asap please help, in reference to straight talk wireless?

Posted on May 8th, 2010 by admin in straight talk wireless | 5 Comments »

i purchased a straight talk phone from walmart, the cheapest phone they had and it doesn’t get service at my house but their coverage map shows excellent service here and so does the verizon map which is their sub network… If i buy the more expensive phone will i get better service? I originally bought the lg 220c

It depends worth a shot. I know my LG gets great service in my house vs my old Moto one…Id advise updating to local towers tho first doing *228 on your mobile and let it search, if still a no go id just think about going another cell phone carrier, I love my ST but its not for everyone. Should get good coverage tho being on the Verizon towers n all…

need answer quick about straight talk wireless?

Posted on May 6th, 2010 by admin in straight talk wireless | 2 Comments »

i bought a straight talk phone from walmart… the cheapest phone available was a lg 220c, i am not able to get service in my area but the map shows that i should have 100% coverage, could it be the phone and if i buy a more expensive phone, different brand, should that help me get bars?

Straight Talk Wireless service is DOWN for pretty much everyone right now. And their customer service is non-existent. I made a recommendation to my sister regarding this service, now I feel like a jerk, because it has been 3 days since she has been able to make or receive a call. I would get you money back. Or you could just wait and cross your fingers.

P.S. If you check the site I listed below as a source, just be aware that is does not seem to be moderated and some of the language is terrible. Whether or not that bothers you…

HELP!! Anyone who knows a lot about computers??

Posted on May 4th, 2010 by admin in straight talk wireless | 3 Comments »

I got a laptop today that I had ordered on ebay. It is a Dell Inspiron 3500 that was upgraded to windows xp and has a wireless internet card. It worked fine til all of a sudden the screen went blue and says:

Stop:c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\config\software or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

Beginning dump of physical memory.
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system administrator or tech support group for further assistance.

In case you are wondering the only thing I have installed today was Yahoo Messenger, and the Wireless Internet drivers.

I don’t know much about computers but what I have tried is taking the battery out and waiting a minute before restarting. I also tried starting in safe mode.
Nothing is working, it will not start up at all, it goes straight to that blue screen. Please help me fix this so I can talk with my husband on Instant Messenger, he is in Iraq:(

Hello,

My name is Mike, I’m a Technical Analyst at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I’m part of an internet outreach team developed to interact with the online community regarding technical questions and issues that customers face with Dell products.

A big part of what may be contributing to the problem is the hardware/ operating system setup you have with this notebook. When the notebook shipped it was only available with Windows 98. The max amount of RAM this system can support is 256MB, barely twice what the minimum requirement for running XP is, it has a max processor speed of 266MHz which is barely more than the minimum requirements for XP and the clock speed (300MHz) is the minimum requirement for XP.

This essentially means that the system is maxed out just running the operating system. This leaves little to no room to run other programs or hardware. You may have more luck installing Windows 98 on it, if that is an option, but you may still run into some problems there. By today’s standards this system lacks the necessary hardware to take advantage of a newer operating system and newer technologies.

Unfortunately this leaves only two legitimate options, downgrade the OS to Windows 98 or upgrade to a newer system(doesn’t have to be brand new, but something that can handle at least 512MB or more of memory with at least a P3 processor or better.)

Thanks,

Mike

does walmart straight talk work in Elkton Kentucky?

Posted on May 2nd, 2010 by admin in straight talk wireless | 2 Comments »

on the straight talk service map(the straight talk website) it shows that area is not receiving coverage,
however most all the other posts I’ve read about straight talk say that they use Verizon wireless towers? if that is the case then the service map for Verizon(their website ) says that Elkton and other small towns in the area are indeed covered.
so if any one has a straight answer for me or can help me get a clear idea of coverage, please do.

Best thing to do is to call Straight talk and ask them about their coverage. And see if they use verizon towers or not.

PARENTS: I’m not a good child?

Posted on April 30th, 2010 by admin in straight talk wireless | 4 Comments »

I want to change myself up so that my parents start to like me more and i can actually get what i want, this is what i’m like NOW:

-I Leave my room messy for longer than a week
-I Leave the basement messy for longer than 2 weeks
-I talk to my friends alot (my parents don’t like it and i don’t understand why)
-My grades are a’s, b’s, and c’s
-I leave the dinner table to go do homework without helping to clean
-I rarely wash dishes
-If I go shopping, i buy the clothes myself
-Argue with siblings ALOT
-I accidentally ran up the cell phone bill 100 dollars the other month because i went over my limit of texting

THIS IS WHAT I WILL FIX MYSELF TO BECOME:
-Receive straight A’s (starting next school year)
-Buy all my clothes myself
-NEVER leave my room messy
-NEVER leave my basement messy
-Wash dishes at least 3 times a week during the school week after dinner and/or before parents come home
-Tone down the arguing with siblings

if i did all of these things, do you think my parents would give me what i want? for example, our cell phone contract is going to end this upcoming November and I want my family to switch to VERIZON WIRELESS and sign up for the unlimited text/1400 minutes of talk plan (it’s $140 a month). Would you as a parent do this?

P.S. remember i’m buying all of my own things ( i have a job )
btw i am planning on buying my own cell phone, but i just want them to sign up for the plan..and like pay for it lol

Well if you did all of those things, your parents would be a lot happier!
I would be very happy with you.
And with the Verizon Wireless plan………you should sit them down and talk about it.
I would if I was a parent

How can I connect my comcast internet to my wireless router and have it work?

Posted on April 28th, 2010 by admin in straight talk wireless | 1 Comment »

Urgh! I seriously even talked to comcast on this one and they told me that they couldn’t help me. No joke. Their computer networking analyst couldn’t help me.

So I got comcast. I have a modem. The techs that set it up registered it on my mac powerbook.

I bought a linksys router. It was the cheapest one at best buy. I cannot run an install on my mac because the cd is not compatible.

My boyfriend will be using it too so I decided to set it up using his pc which is a compaq. I ran the whole setup program on it. I ran it multiple times. I can’t pick any signal. It definitely doesn’t work. I decided to connect it straight to the pc from the modem to go to comcasts website. It worked for about 3 minutes and then stopped.

I have no idea what to do at this point. Any help?

Don’t worry about the install from the Linksys cd. You don’t need it.

What you do have to do is bridge your modem and have the Linksys router connect to comcast. It involves doing stuff like typing 192.168.1.1 into the url and changing settings and stuff. The comcast guys are supposed to be able to give you directions on how to do that. I can’t personally give those directions, but maybe you can find some on google or see if anyone else knows how.

Not sure why the internet stopped after 3 min. It shouldn’t have.
