Do you think McCain is giving us ’straight talk’ when he says "we’re proud of that [Paris Hilton] commercial"?
When asked about the ad in which the McCain campaign compared Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, McCain said:
"All I can say is we’re proud of that commercial…I believe that we should base this campaign on what we can do for Americans at home and how we can make Americans safe and prosperous and that’s the theme of our campaign."

I must be missing something, because I don’t really see how comparing Obama to Paris Hilton tells us how we can make America better.
Regardless, do you think McCain was being honest when he said he was proud of the Paris Hilton commercial? If so, what aspect of that commercial is there to be proud of?
I think it’s showing part of Senator McCain’s character that hasn’t been seen….if he’s proud of going against his pledge to run a gentlemanly, respectful non negative campaign….what else can be said…he doesn’t seem to concerned that he’s broken his word in that regard…
I thought the ad to be rather childish, offensive, and quite ugly actually….Just as the one that followed that was even more so..
It was on the news that Ms. Hilton’s mother has spoken out because she and her husband donated the full amount to the McCain campaign, and are not happy that donation money is being used to do ads like this….
I think he was being honest that he’s proud of what the campaigns ads are now….but what there is to be proud of, is something I can’t answer….
Sure. This is the only publicity poor Paris has gotten in months. She should be thrilled about it.

No, but he has to say what his campaign wants him to say. I dont think McCain personally wanted to do the ads, but he was pushed into it and hes desperate.
However he is receiving a backlash for it now…

Yes.
The commercial was spot on. Obama is the media darling (like Paris or Spears)…McCain, since he can’t get this message out on mainstream news (because he gets a quarter of the airtime Obama gets), has to tell people through commercials.

Yes I think he was being honest when he said he was proud of it. He’s probably proud of taking Obama’s rock star nonsense and turning it against him. Anything else you libertards read into that is just a bunch of nonsense.

I think the ‘the One’ commercial was much funnier. If they had that in reserve, I’m not sure why they even bothered with the Paris Hilton one.

I think he is proud. Why shouldn’t he be.
I’ll use the same argument that many people lobbying for Obama presently have done in defense of creative products that have annoyed others—just because a creative expression offends you, or you don’t "get it," doesn’t mean that it is not a valid expression of the subjective experiences of the person who created it. If you don’t like it, don’t come to the art exhibit. See? And McCain paid for it. The taxpayer didn’t.
Let McCain be proud of his commercial! It’s a creative expression of something that he believed, and apparently it resonates (rings true) with other people. Obama gets to express his theatrical side through his speeches. McCain is using a different means of expression through the film montage.

Your view is overly simplistic. Did you, anywhere in that ad, see or hear any comparison between Obama and ANYBODY? You did not. There is absolutely nothing derogatory about that ad. The two statements it attributes to Obama were pulled directly from Obama’s own website (at the time, and, knowing Obama, since removed), so they were true. The ad said we shouldn’t select on the basis of celebrity, and it was correct.
Quit crying like someone is beating your child.
You see what you want to see. Maybe the comparison has actually been in your mind all along.

The McCain campaign did what your LIBERAL RUN media has refused to do since before the primaries–show Obama for what he is..and what he is not! Yes, I’d be proud to finally stand up to the liberal idiots who seem to think that THEY better than YOU and the American public are better qualified to decidew who should be running our country.

The commercial is accurate. Liberals don’t know the first thing about the man behind the mask.

No, I think he is inwardly ashamed. I have little doubt his advisors sat him aside and said "if we don’t pull some negative shit out pronto this thing is going to be over before it starts".

Anybody can clearly see that was not McCain’s work. That’s not even his style. Definitely was the work of his campaign. I’m pretty certain he did not like the commercial..especially considering Paris Hilton comes from a family that gives exclusively to the republicans(and gave max to mccain) and Britney spears family are hardcore republican voters. They def. had to convince to approve that commercial. It just makes him look bad, has absolutely nothing to do with the issues.
