so i just at&t i got the blackberry bold 9700 and my daughter got the sony ericsson c905a from at&t. and we bearly had at&t for 3 days. (before i had t-mobile) i live in long beach california .. were t-mobile worked perfect .. and in this last 3 days i have dropped more calls on at&t than i ever did on t-mobile on 2 years! even when my blackberry bold show 5 bars of 3G i put the area code and the number of the person ima call and it just says calling for about 40 seconds and it never rings and its just says ”call failed” and i know its not my phone because my daughters phone also has the same problems . and then after many times of redialing when it finally goes tru and it connects the call im talking with the other person and i can only stay connected for 5 minutes the most then it just drops the call i get call ended with full reception.. also the internet is painfully slow at loading web pages with 5 bars of 3G. it loaded myspace mobile it about 56 seconds i counted the seconds.. also the text messaging is all messed up all my friends have verizon and when i send them a text or pic message they get it like 2 hours late and sometimes they get the message 3 times even though i send it 1 time.. i check my outbox and it says i only sent it 1 time. also when they send me txt messages i get them 3 hours late .. and they always get mad at me cause i reply 3 hours later n they tell what happend i sent u the message 3 hours ago n ur berly replying? also sometimes the calls never come tru even though i have full signal . n again my friends get mad cause they think im avoiding them which im not . n when they leave me a voice mail . my phone says i got a voice mail like 3 hours late ..n today i got my house phone and called my phone n even though i had full reception it went straight to voice mail and i had my blackberry in one hand and my house phone in my other hand and the first 4 times it didnt ring it just went straight to voice mail. and finally the 5 time it went tru . my blackberry started to ring.. also my daughter has all the same problem im having.. so i want to know is this an usual thing on at&t.. is the at&t service always like this?? cause t-mobile never ever gave me soo many problems…. thanks

In some areas, that’s just how your service is going to be with a particular carrier.

If you’ve only had service with AT&T for 3 days, then you can return your phones and cancel your service under the "buyer’s remorse" laws (I think you have even longer in California than you do elsewhere, but I know it’s at least 14 days), and go back to T-Mobile if you want to. Since it sounds like you live in an area with poor AT&T coverage, going back to T-Mobile might be the better option for you.

I used to work for T-Mobile, and think very highly of them; I am still a T-Mobile customer. No company is perfect, of course, but I know how T-Mobile thinks and trains its people, and I would have no hesitation recommending them. You may want to give them a call and see what they can offer you.

Good luck!

  2. Unfortunately this is a common problem with AT&T. Even though they just were rated with great broadband speed, their service seems to have many problems. Dropping calls is just the start. I’ve had several texts go missing, repeat, or do other odd things. Calls rarely go thorough and when the do, they get dropped a lot of the time. I’m counting down the days until I end my contract.

I would highly recommend returning the phones. You have a 30 day return period with AT&T. In my experience, the best coverage has been Verizon. I live in a remote area and Verizon is the only reliable company. Also, dealing with AT&T once you’re past the 30 days is pretty dismal. I kick myself for not getting out when I could.
